Hydrographic Screen Printing
I am currently developing a new surface decoration technique involving screen printing, oil based slips, and water soluble film. The process allows printed designs to be applied to a three-dimensional object.
Oil based slip is screen printed onto polyvinyl alcohol film (PVA) and then is set into a tank of water. The film dissolves leaving the oil slip pattern floating on the surface of the water. Bisqueware is then dipped into the pattern, which is able to wrap around a pot and even detailed surfaces.
